Emack and Bolio Ride

We had a great turnout on Saturday for our Community Bike Ride from Community Park to Emack and Bolio's ice cream shop in the Southfield shopping center. About fifty cyclists participated in a fun family event that combined biking on the new Trolley Line Trail with eating ice cream for a good cause! Riders as young as 6 years old made the round trip, and a team of WW Bicycle and Pedestrian volunteers helped keep everyone safe. Thanks to all the volunteers, thanks to Emack and Bolio for contributing a portion of their profits to the Alliance, and many thanks to WWBPA members Kathy Stratton and Kim Meersma for coming up with the original idea and for the whole Meersma-Stratton family for all their help in the event. And thanks to all the riders who made this event so fun! We will definitely do this again next year!

Take a Round Trip Saturday September 29

Take a round-trip bike ride along part of the PSE&G right of way from Community Park to the Emack and Bolio's Ice Cream shop in the Southfiled Retail Center on Princeton-Hightstown Road. This route demonstrates the new cycling connectivity on this trail and residential streets between Community Park and the shopping center.

The route is 4 miles each way on flat terrain, and individual or groups of riders of all ages who can complete the course are welcome. Participants may purchase refreshments at the mid-point of the ride at Emack and Bolio, who will contribute a percentage of proceeds to the West Windsor Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance (WWBPA). The WWBPA is a not for profit corporation established in January 2006 and its goal is to promote bicycling and walking in West Windsor Township and neighboring communities, emphasizing access, education, mobility, and safety.

Participants should meet at the Waterworks complex in Community Park, located off of Bernt Midland Drive at Princeton-Hightstown Road (Route 571) on Saturday, September 29 at 2:00 p.m. A rain date is scheduled for the next day, Sunday September 30 at 2:00 p.m.
