Hightstown National Night Out

On the evening of Tuesday, August 5th Hightstown held its 25th anniversary of the National Night Out Against Crime. Many showed up to join in on the festivities which included a waterslide, a DJ, free food, and various community organizations.

This was also a great opportunity to speak with the local police force, several of whom visited the Bike and Pedestrian Alliance booth. The Alliance was represented by Chris Scherer, Roger Alig, and both Eric and Ryan Sleeper. The booth was visited by many area residents and several left with helmets, lights, ankle bands, and vests. We also met representatives of other community organizations, including “Next Level Youth” (a youth recreational group based in Hightstown) and those organizing the “Hightstown Sprint Triathlon” scheduled for this September.

It was great to see the enthusiasm in those who came up to our booth, particularly concerned about bicycle safety. The Night Out was fun and well attended by a number of families from the area.
